What an amazing event yesterday, hosted by #NorthernPowerWomen and #PowerCollectiveCIC on board #HMSMersey. It was truly inspiring to hear about Simone Roche MBE journey from joining the Navy at the tender age of 17 and how her journey shaped her philosophy and led to the formation of the Northern Power Women and the Power Collective CIC. “Always be the best version of yourself.” “Pay it forward.” “Make connections and make them count.” Thank you for sharing your story.
Thank you also to Captain Mitchell and his crew for their amazing hospitality and a tour of the ship. “It’s not the destination but who you run with that counts.” I definitely have an affinity with sailing, being the daughter and granddaughter of a Merchant seamen! I actually wanted to join the Navy after leaving school but back in those days, women were not allowed to go to sea. It’s great to see that has all changed and Honorary Captain Simone Roche MBE is testament to that! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Great to see Aby Ndiaye , Keisha Adair Swaby(BSc First Class Hon) MSc , Dave Nwosu Prof Ndy Ekere (PhD, CEng, FIET, FAS) Rob Monks and many more. I’m looking forward to revisit the ship when it returns in May! 😃
