Today 72 years ago, the Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks bringing people from the Caribbean islands who came to help rebuild the UK after World War 2 and for a better life.
We must remember and say thank you to the Windrush generation who sacrificed their lives and contributed so much to this country and faced a lot of injustice and racism by doing so.
Here is a piece was written by my cousin on how 802 Caribbean people were answering the call of Mother, Great Britain on 22 June 1948.
