To continue the celebration of Black History month, I will be sharing some history of black pioneers through the ages, often forgotten about and very rarely taught in our schools. I will be concentrating particularly on black women who are overwhelmingly under-represented in many organisations today, particularly in senior positions. An often unheard and unseen talented minority.

Today is Amina Queen of Zaria (c. 1533 – c. 1610)
16th century warrior Queen of present-day Nigeria. She was best known for her impressive military skills and her ability to lead the cavalry. She conquered much of North Africa for the Hausa people during her 34-year reign. Accredited as a brilliant architect who constructed strong earthen walls around the cities she built and seized.
